Did you know that March 29 is National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day? There are lots of unique ways this day is celebrated by small business owners. Sometimes mini fairs are sponsored to make it an especially fun day for people in the community. Some shops will provide demonstrations on how they make their products and allow customers to participate in their process to get that “hands-on” experience. Other shops will offer a small sampling or trinket as a reminder of what their stores offer. All these little things can sometimes make the biggest difference, and with your help, some of these little stores might even be able to make it big one day. Ben & Jerry’s, Subway and Burt’s Bees all started as small businesses. “They create economic growth and provide almost 70% of all new jobs in the country. That's why every year on March 29 we acknowledge the more than 27 million small businesses in this country by celebrating National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day!”
If you don’t have local mom & pop stores available in your area (or at least not the ones that sell what you’re looking for), the internet lets even small operators have a national reach. For example: Many Etsy sellers like ourselves, are independent craftspeople running a small business that just happens to be online. You’ll get personal service and real, live people answering their phones, and because they specialize in just a few products or services, they actually know what they’re talking about! So on March 29, 2022, help us celebrate this very special day! Thank you!
